Don't tell me you haven't done this yourself... "They do fit." We are talking shoes here. Insistant that I did not think they fit, I told Skylar to try on the shoes she wanted to wear to school today. She squeezed her foot into this size 8 shoe when she wears a 9 and then insisted that they don't hurt. I think she just meant, they didn't hurt bad enough to not wear them. I do in on occassion myself, "I can wear these for about 2 -3 hours, so they fit." Typical lady.
Skylar started gymnastics back up today. She did such a wonderful job with it last winter. It is such a positive thing for her. She gained body awareness, confidence, strength, and she totally enjoys it, too. That is all she has been talking about. We were blessed to have grandparents pitch in for Christmas so that she could go. Not to mention the added blessing of a surprise half-price session for going during our mid-day time. I spoke with the owner today and she gave me yet another deal on top of the 1/2 price by just committing till the end of the school year. She also assured me that she did not want me to ever pull Skylar out for financial reasons that she would work something out for us. Wow, we are blessed and we never even told her our situation. So thankful the Lord knows our needs and provides for our wants.
Kamden tried to stay out of the way but once he saw the girls on the trampoline he wanted to be a part of it. He was able to find a ball to keep him busy for awhile.
Last night while Dustin was at a friend's, Skylar and I chose and tried on her choice leatard and did her nails. Then this morning I started to do her hair. I brushed it out and realized that straight, it is 2 inches away from touching her waist. I keep telling her I want to cut it. I think in the back of my mind it is to deny that she is getting bigger. I want her to have that little curly bob that she had 2 years ago. But now at almost 5, she is insistant that she wants it long. And she does let me take care of it. When I was pulling it back this morning so she would be ready for gymnastics, I figured this was my time to get the pig tails I so enjoy, with her beautiful ringlet curls. So I asked her if she wanted bear ears or long dog ears. I know how to get this little girl, talk puppy and she goes for it. Here she is:
In the eyes of her baby brother, Skylar is also so big. She takes such pleasure in sitting down and reading him a good book. She asks Dustin if she can read his school book when he is done. And she does just that...she reads it to him.
She is such a wonderful reader. Reading at a first grade level, she blows the teachers and parent volunteers away. It is a passion of hers and I am sure she will go far with it.
That last picture is so sweet. Amazing that Kamden does sit for a story, what with all he has to do!
