Week 2 ~ 2010

Sunday January 10th
We took the Christmas tree down last night. I like to leave it up for as long as possible but it seemed like it was time. So we took that down and cleared out the corner that our trees have resided in for the last 8 years. I came out this morning and saw these praire dog heads popping out from behind the couch.

These are not bandaids on Skylar's pants. They are the evidence that she wears her momma's jeans, so to speak. I had to hem them this morning so she could wear them to church. Short runs in the family girl, sorry. It is only the beginning. So thankful for iron on tape. You may call it cheating. I call it keeping sanctuary. Keep it simple, right.

I got the golden ticket for tonight's show.

Saturday January 9th

Tickets, tickets, tickets. We were invited to a puppet show. It had animals of all kinds. And the greatest part was that it was right here in the comfort of our own home. It was so nice to see these presenters work together to put on a presentation. Skylar was the voice and acting behind her doll house. The animals all hung out the window as the dog danced about on the roof. All was well until the alligator came and ate them all. Oh, no.

This is the sound/lighting man. With a flashlight propped up on a stack of lego buckets and a laptop computer at his work station, he turned the lights off and the show began.

On Sunday we were invited to the encore. Only this time it was costing us, $1 per ticket. This was unless you got the lucky ticket. This came about due to the dinner conversation about lucky plate day that mommy and daddy used to have at school. Great, maybe I will keep my stories to a minimum. I asked Dustin if I could borrow a dollar for the show and he started to agree till he said, "Actually, we made this show so that Skylar and I could make money. We are on a tight budget so I guess it is only one show for us, Adam.

Friday January 8th
I guess you can only get away with an outfit like this when you are 4. Otherwise, you will be added to the People of Walmart website if you go there. Adam and some of the other softball guys seem to be stuck on this site.

Kamden is getting so big so fast. He now likes to jump off of our one step into the playroom. He stands in the living, pulls his arms back and says, "Rea-ee", then jumps. At the end he claps for his own approval and insists that you do the same.

We just spoke today about his vocabulary. He seems to repeat anything he hears. While in the van today he joined in for the singing of "Baby Beluga." He calls this favorite YouTube character ba-ee for baby. When he was 14 months, with his 5 words, we felt he was lacking in vocabulary, in comparison to where Skylar was at 22 words at the same age. Then we soon realized that Skylar was just an extreme talker. We knew he would learn and it was just a matter of time. Then at 19 months he started. He now has phrases like, "Happy New Year, cmon". He is trying to say Dustin, comes out "Du-in" and Skylar, "Kyer".

Thursday January 7th
During the week when we go to the school to get Dustin I insist that we get some time outside. So we dawn the snow clothes and wait for Madison's mom to be done working and play in the giant snow piles at the school. This day I grabbed my scarf to keep my ears warm and my gloves for my hands. But as we waited, a little voice expressed that they were cold when the wind blew in their face. So I wrapped the child and they enjoyed the rest of our play time.

Guess who this masked man is: Another child had wet gloves and ended up with mine. Thank you, mommy.
