Finishing Up May

May 26
Proud moment, I am sure. I am sure that you will be so proud of this picture as we use it to torture you when you get older. Kamden comes up to us and says, "Tincess." He likes to play with Skylar and is even willing to dress up with her. I like the fact that he is sitting on the second floor of the doll house as a stool.

May 28
During the school year, the children get to participate in Primary Pride. Some days they are watching a song of play presented by other students, other days they get to do the performance with their classmates. This day Skylar's class did a few songs and dance. She insisted on wearing a pretty dress. I later found out it was so she could twirl during the spinning parts.
I did feel badly when it was time to go and Kamden went to give her a hug goodbye. He fell down, pulling her onto him. He hit his head and pinned her finger against his head and the hard floor. Of course, that made a scene and Skylar had to go to the nurse for ice. We did think for a few minutes that it might have been broken. But she was willing to stay so she could celebrate Olivia's birthday snack with her.
You did a nice job on your performance, Skylar. You sang and danced like you were enjoying yourself. You knew when to do each part. And you even showed us you were brave and said your own name into the microphone when you were done. Nice Job.

May 29
The highlight of the week may have been going to her best friend's birthday party. The sweetest part was watching her snuggle that kitten as if she was going to be able to take it home. Of course, the kitten stayed at Olivia's and I heard about it for weeks. You are such an animal girl. Someday we can do the same for you.

This day proved to be worthy of cooling off in the pool. Though the water was quite cold, it did not stop these water babies. Look at the expression on that face as he anticipates the chill.
Skylar had to talk herself into being as brave as Dustin. It became a competition as to who could get the most of their body wet first.
This little guy was a bit more hesitant to go back in after feeling how cold it was the first time.

Dinner's On Us

May 23
When you get married you know that you will have to combine 'traditions' or make your own. One tradition that Adam was accustomed to celebrating as a kid was that on your birthday, you got to choose what you wanted for dinner. To this day his mom still upholds that tradition and does dinner for the birthday child.

So we have decided to do the same for our children as it is one that we can do for years to come. It is a nice time to get out as a family or in Skylar's case, an excuse to cook keilbasa and rice. But Kamden opted for a different choice. He didn't actually care what was for dinner he just anticipated where he would go. You see when I was in Florida in April Kamden went to a birthday party for his cousin Jaiden. And every morning that I was gone he said, "Chuck E. Cheese, today?" So we decided to take him to Chuck E. Cheese Today. He thinks that is the whole name of the place.

Normally I do not particularly prefer to go to this place and neither does Adam since he spends many a days on the rooftop fixing the ac. But on this day it was all for our bear and boy, did I get into it with him.
Literally, right into the tube with him. It was the only way that he was willing to go inside and fully enjoy the experience. I really had a lot of fun with each of them. They think it is great to see mommy crawl around up there. I will say it is brutal on the knees though.
Though Adam was not willing to go in the tubes, he did have fun with us. He enjoyed playing the games with the kids and trying to earn tickets.
All in all, it was a fun afternoon and it definitely beat trying to get them to sit still and behave well enough in a sit down ice cream place. Hope you had fun at Chuck E. Cheese Today.

~~~~~
The day started out with our traditional mommy and birthday child breakfast. I like that time to spend one on one with the birthday child for that focus and bonding, even if it is just watching the cars go through the DD drive through.
We rushed on down to Dustin's baseball game where mommy and daddy were coaching. You are such a trooper. You find something to do while you are asked to stay off the field. This day, you deserve to be king of the mountain.
~~~~~
Following the game, we went home where you helped make your cake for your party. Thanks for your help, just make sure you mix the eggs all the way.
We were blessed to have family from Florida up during Kamden's special day. They came up for a less exciting gathering but were thankful to have a celebration of life during their visit.
We miss having you guys around.We would be so excited if you were able to move back up. We will continue to pray that if the Lord wills, He will show His way. Love you Aunt Linda, Evan, Cori, Leo, Noah and Gabriella. Our long-ago, family friend, Mary, was able to make it, too. So nice to reconnect.
~~~~~~
No party is complete without a friendly game to have family square off. This time it was wiffle ball. Not nearly as intense as soccer, but it was fun. We start them off early in the Garrison household. No tee for these boys, we need someone to be able to play for the Red Sox and take care of us when were are old.
Wow, Grandpa G.G. and Grammy Nome really outdid themselves on this one. They heard that Kamden wanted to ride like the big kids. So they got him his "jeep". Shayla is helping him learn the ropes.
Thank you to everyone that was able to come and celebrate Kamden's birthday with us. It is so nice to be surrounded with family.
End of School Field Trips
May 18
At the end of the school year, each child had a field trip on back to back days. Skylar had her trip to the UCONN barns.
You know anything where Skylar can be around animals is an awesome trip for her.
She was fine with Kamden coming along for the trip. Though he was hesitant to stay close to the cows once they moved.
He braved up to show Hazel the cows.
The following day, May 19th,
Dustin had a trip to the Ecotarium. I was very excited to be able to go on this trip with just Dustin. Grammy Nome watched Kamden so I could go on the bus trip about a 1 1/2 hours away. The boys had fun learning about plankton (as seen below). It was so funny to watch Dustin's interpretation of the drawing of plankton on the whiteboard.
The trip ended with a nice train ride around the park. Of course, my kids always choose to be with their teachers despite all the work I go through to attend their functions. Let's me know they enjoy their company.
The day did not end there. I had to make a doctor's appointment for myself due to a swollen gland in my neck and ear, poison ivy on my face, and a sore throut. Then I had Skylar's kindergarten orientation. What an active day. But it was lots of fun.
May 16
I know, May? I dated it correctly. I figured since it has been a month exactly since I have updated, that I should get back. I am going to catch up on the months of May and June. So much has happened in that time. I can not let these pictures and memories go by undocumented. First up is the Touch A Truck day at Stafford Motor Speedway. It was a fun morning of being outside with the family. There are somewhere in the area of 25-30 different vehicles in the parking lot that the kids can climb all over and in, ranging from Army hummers to Humane Society buses. I was so sure that I knew my kids well enough to think that Dustin would have been the one on all the vehicles but as the pictures will show, I was wrong. Kamden was not nearly as intimidates as I thought. He was all over every vehicle. This is a giant snow pusher...
a race car...
a Black Hawk helicopter...
Dustin found his favorite and gravitated right towards it. His enthusiasm was quickly shared by the others.
I think I had just as much fun as the kids did. I enjoyed climbing on the back of the fire truck with the kids. Just as long as it was not the back of a police car.
Kamden opted for the front, I was thankful. Any warm sunny day where the family can be together and everyone is happy is a day worth documenting for me.
We ended the event with pizza for all at Willington, Too. We had ordered from there before but it was so much more fun for the kids to get to be together and eat there. Thanks Jen, for telling us about the day.
