Family Times~December

11/27
Rule in our house...Christmas tree up before my birthday. So we headed out Thanksgiving weekend and got our tree. Free ride, Dustin.11/28

Getting the tree up inspired the next thing on the Christmas checklist...Christmas card photos. Now anyone with three kids, knows this is not always the easiest of ventures. But I was insistant that I wanted to try. Here are a few of those shots.

Thankful for digital cameras and happy children.

Gingerbread houses are so fun and there is always plenty of scraps of candy laying around these parts. So we lay them out and we go to town. Should have known our little puppy lover would have had a peppermint dog in hers. (He's got the yellow, gum drop head and the red, twizzler tail on the right side of the walkway.) As for Kamden's...he's got termites. There was no frosting left inside his to hold the walls up. He built it and before I could take pictures he was licking the spackle off the walls. 12/18
My mother-in-law and her husband have started taking the big kids out for a birthday dinner. I know my birthday is a hard time of year to schedule around, but she always does a nice job letting you know you are loved and thought about. This was a fun night. And surprised we got all faces in one shot. That's all we got was one shot. Kids were squished against the table, adults were trying to save them, and the camera was balanced on a pizza box. Fun.

Family picture in front of the tree. So blessed to have such a wonderful family, a home to call our own, but most of all the favor of the Lord. Happy Birthday, Sweet Jesus. What a sweet reminder, from Skylar, of what Christmas is. With her brightly colored, squared edged legos, she was still able to capture the precious moments of baby Jesus in the manger.
12/23

Still keeping with tradition, and adding the kids' handprints to the family tree skirt. It has been through a few tough days. But each taped up, smeared, patched space has a story to go with it...
Adam is no longer allowed to vaccum in December. Love you. 12/24

Excited to have started a new tradition with our Christmas Eve group. We sang two of my favorite Christmas carols, O Holy Night and Do You Hear What I Hear? Each member of my family was so cooperative and sang against their wills. Good thing I don't know how to put videos on here yet. Don't worry, I'll learn.

12/25

Christmas morning with that family. Skylar was so excited that she picked out this scarf for me. She helped Kamden pick out a matching pair of gloves for me since I had torn mine when I tripped and fell one night at her gymnastics. Such thoughtfulness in her giving.
One of my favorite Christmas memories, for this yea,r would be family rock band concerts. Dustin has been singing Eye of the Tiger for years and knows the lyrics by heart. So what a treat when Grandma and Grandpa Sherwood joined in to sing it with us Christmas morning.Fun to see Dustin break out of his shell. Skylar and Kamden took turns beating daddy's fingers as he helped them be the drummer. Grandma took her turn singing and Grandpa played the guitar. All were smiles.

After Christmas morning at our house with the "traveling Grandparents" for the year, we head on over to the other side and get to spend time with Adam's siblings and other set of parents. The kids are getting older now and it is nice to see them play with eachother.
12/27

Snow, snow, snow. Happy to have daddy home for a snow day. Blessed to be fortunate enough to trust the Lord to take care of our finances while we take a day to play.

With Kamden's asthma rearing it's nasty head... we are learning some much needed tricks in order to let him stay in the fun. We have found that the extreme dry, cold, winter air is hard on him. So cover his nose and mouth and he is good as new. New Year's Eve...we went to dad and Joan's. The kids decided to start a snowball fight on the way out. Fun to see everyone enjoying the snow. Little did we know what was to come for the season. "Who's my target now? Watch out grandpa G.G."

But the angel said to them, 'Do not be afraid. I bring you good news that will cause great joy for all the people. Today in the town of David a Savior has been born to you; he is the Messiah, the Lord.'
Luke 2:10,11
