Butterflies and Birthdays

August 2011
So we are working with Adam not getting many vacation days. I asked if he would go back to the treat of asking for his birthday off this year. Before his job change, he used to take his birthday off every year. So this year we decided to make a long weekend out of it and make it more of a treat. Not that a butterfly place screams "Happy Birthday, Adam" but spending time with his wife and kids does.

We headed out with cameras in tow and research done for the most attractive colors to wear for attracting butterflies. (BTW you aren't going to get your 3 year old to wear yellow to attract them if you also tell him it attracts bees.) The kids were also given the task to shoot some pics for a summer science project. So we killed a lot of birds with this stone (but no butterflies). It was a beautiful time.

Watching the look on Skylar's face was sure joy.
(Will have to find the pic of Sky to put in here.)
Watching the hesitancy on Dustin's face was sure laughter. Kamden's, pure panic, but he got better as we went on. I was amazed at the patience the kids had in trying to get the butterflies to land on them.Either Adam smelled just right, sat the stillest or they really like red. He was the most popular.
We packed a lunch to save on funds and splurged on icecream for daddy's treat. Picking one of 24 flavors of soft serve was tricky for me.

"And God said, 'Let the waters teem with living creatures, and let birds fly above the earth across the vault of the sky." So God created the great creatures of the sea and every living thing with which the water teems and that moves about in it, according to their kinds, and every winged bird according to its kind. And God saw that it was good. God blessed them and said, 'Be fruitful and increase in number and fill the water in the seas and let the birds increase on the earth.'
