Precious Fingers

I know these posts are out of order, for the dates but one, in particular, seemed to justify receiving its own entry. Though it was not exactly one year ago, to date, but rather the trip to the accountant's office Saturday, that helped me to recall the events that unfolded last year during this time of year. This precious little child decided to play, not with fire, but with the fire extinguisher. So while other's were out celebrating and drinking green beer, and entering the ER, we were entering with a 10 month old baby with a broken finger.

This is what he walked out with. These pictures were taken three days later at the orthopedic's office, which by the way, was daddy's doctor when he broke his thumb during his first year of softball. Kind of surprising that CCMC does not deal with children's finger bones. But we were more than pleased with the treatment we received from Dr. Scarangelo. Kamden was the youngest patient they had ever seen. As we unwrapped that tiny little hand this is the discomfort that we found. A bruised and swollen ring finger on his left hand and sores where the ER case has rubbed blisters on his forearm, thumb and backside of his hand.
I brought him home in his second cast, this blue one, only to have to return within a few days to get this green one. After taping a credit card to his hand to stabalize it, like some Mastercard commercial, we headed back and were wrapped up to the elbow in a green cast. We found that fitting since he started this story on St. Patrick's Day.
These little fingers are so precious and sweet as they wrap themselves around our own.
We can still see the finger that tells the story and are so thankful that he did not lose it. As I am sure his future wife will also be thankful some day.
"Yet if you devote your heart to him and stretch out your hands to him, if you put away the sin that is in your hand and allow no evil to dwell in your tent, then you will lift up your face without shame; you will stand firm and without fear."Job 11:13-15
